Heron Island Oyster Company was founded in 2015 with a focus on small-scale, slow growing surface culture. Our lease occupies a special spot on the Damariscotta River, where the warm waters of Great Salt Bay meet the cold ocean tides around Glidden Ledge. This unique location imparts an up-front briny flavor with a clean, sweet finish, held in a hardy shell.
